Program/Service Notes

The C.A.R.E. Program (Children At-Risk Educationally) is to provide learning experiences which build language and cognitive growth through developmentally appropriate materials and strategies aligned with the State's early learning standards. Providing for families an increased awareness for future school success; helping parents in their role as their child's first and most important teacher. Services offered: -Child developmental screening/assessment -Site based service -Adult/child play experiences -Book lending library -Workshops in child development, health care and parenting skills -Classroom Program -- 5 times a week - Monday through Friday, 2.5 hour sessions - Home Interaction Program (HIP) - 2 days a week, 1 day in home of child and family, 1 day at Center - Parent Programming - Play Groups - For children on the waiting list, their siblings and families - Wednesday and Fridays 10:00-11:00 AM at the Danville Public Library Other services offered: * Free transportation * Breakfast provided for children attending morning sessions and lunch for children attending afternoon sessions in Danville, snacks provided in the county schools * Play groups for parents and younger siblings * Opportunity to volunteer in the classroom to see your child's development * Periodic assessment of your child's intellectual, language, motor and social development * Opportunity to share with and learn from other parents * Effective linkages between schools, social service agencies, and families with young children
