Hours: Monday - Thursday 9:00 AM-8:00 PM; Friday - Saturday 9:00 AM-5:30 PM

Eligibility: Residents within Danville's legal city limits may obtain borrower's cards free, upon proof of current home address and photo

Fees: Fees apply to some materials and to patrons who do not reside in an Illinois Public Library District.

Intake Process: Go to the Checkout Desk to apply for a card. Call or write to apply for a volunteer position.

The library offers the following services and materials that can be checked out: * Books * Magazines * Audio recordings - books and music * Videos & DVDs * Computer software * Large print books * Large reference collection * Telephone books * Telephone listings on CD ROM * Public programs * Outreach book and other materials delivery to the homebound and institutionalized * Archives and local history and genealogy collection * Talking Book service * FAX service * Outreach services to preschools, youth organizations and other institutions. * Public Internet access * Wireless internet connection for laptops, PDA's, etc. (Signal is strongest on 2nd floor) Volunteer Opportunities: Anyone (18 or older) who wishes to can volunteer to work at the library. To contact the volunteer coordinator: *Call 217-477-5227 or 217-477-5220 Requirements the volunteer must meet are: * Drivers license is helpful * Clerical and computer skills * Good people skills * Enjoy working with people Volunteers from ages 18+ are needed to: * Deliver books and other materials to homebound and institutionalized * Clerical and other basic duties * Shelf reading * Light janitorial * Sorting * Typing * Basic computer tasks The Library honors borrower's cards from all Illinois Public libraries. People who do not reside in any library taxing area may purchase cards for all members of family for a family fee.
