These programs are meant to help people who do not qualify for most of the other traditional federal, state, and county programs. INFORMATION & REFERRAL: The Transitional Assistance/Earnfare department will assist any person seeking other areas of need to alternate services and programs in the community. Ineligible clients for Township services are referred by staff to possible sources for help, either by phone or written referral. SPEAKER BUREAU: The Speaker's Bureau provides speakers to organizations wanting to know about the Danville Township and it's community services. TRANSPORTATION: Program to transport eligible citizens (55 and older residents of the Township) to beauty shops, grocery stores, visit friends, medical appointments. You will be picked up at your door, assisted with your packages, and taken back to your door. No wheelchairs. Request 48 hr prior notice. Cost is $2.00 each way. Not equipped for wheelchairs. YOUTH SERVICES: Free baseball nights, swimming pool admission, fishing trips, roller skating, ice skating, hockey games, movies, bowling and possible other organized events. Youth between 3 and 18 years old residents of Township. TRANSITIONAL ASSISTANCE: Basic living and limited medical help - $100. per month * must meet guidelines for transitional assistance set forth by IDHS * no other source of income, and * Township resident, or * 55+ years old, or * no gross earnings over $2,000 in past year and not over $200/month in 7 of past 12 months, or * needed at home full time to care for a person who lives with you because of medical need, or * homeless and lost residence due to court order to evacuate, domestic violence, fire or natural disaster within the last 6 months, or * under 20 and go to high school full time * or take prescription medicine regularly to control seizures, severe high blood pressure or diabetes or cannot work due to a medically documented illness or incapacity DRY GOODS COMMODITIES: Non-food items to individuals who have need according to the Federal State Guidelines. * Must register with the Township * Items handed out once a quarter Must be referred by food stamp caseworker.
