Program/Service Notes

The Learning Center offers classes in which adults can learn valuable life skills from the "Learning to Live, Learning to Love" curriculum. Although it has been primarily formulated to address the concerns of families in abusive situations, the course offers tools to enrich and "fine tune" any relationship. For the single adult, skills are taught to help break the patterns of the past and establish balance in new relationships. They also work with Junior and Senior High age groups. The goal of the Center is to help each individual increase their capacity to function in relationships and where possible to offer hope of reconciliation. The curriculum helps gain skills in: * Communications * Love and Family Bonding * Male/Female Differences * Managing Stress * Mother/Son Bond * Father/Daughter Bond * Reactive Behavior * Awareness and Processing of Feelings * Breaking the Bonds of Shame * Learning to Forgive * Developing Trust * Accepting Responsibility * Respecting Self and Others * Establishing Roots for a Healthy Family * Making Lasting Relationships * Profile of the "Silent Knight" and his Victim Skills are also taught in how to process feelings of hurt, anger, guilt/shame, bitterness/resentment. Skills to change behavior are taught in classes that are separate for men and women. Classes meet once each week for 25 weeks. Each class is 3 hours in duration totaling 75 hours of intense study and education. Private sessions are also available.
