Program/Service Notes
DHS-Division of Rehabilitation Services is the state's vocational rehabilitation program. DRS helps individuals with disabilities to obtain, or maintain employment. VR counselors provide individualized evaluation, assessment, vocational guidance, job development, placement and follow-up services to eligible individuals. To be eligible for the Vocational Rehabilitation program the individual must be working age and meet the following criteria: * Have a significant physical or mental impairment with results in a substantial impediment to employment * Require vocational rehabilitation services to prepare for enter in or maintain gainful employment consistent with the applicants strengths, interests, abilities, and informed choice. * Is presumed to able to benefit from vocational rehabilitation services in terms of an employment outcome. DRS Home Services program is designed for eligible individuals with the most significant disabilities who need in home care services to remain in their homes, living independently as possible. To be eligible for the Home Services program an individual must be under the age of 60 at the time of application and meet the following criteria: * Have a sever disability lasting 12 months or longer, or for duration of life. * Be at imminent of nursing home placement * Have applied for Medicaid unless already on medicaid/spend-down * Have services that cost the same or less than nursing home. * Have less than $10,000 in non-exempt assets if 18 older. Meet $30,000 family asset limit if under age 18.
