The Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation provides legal advice and representation in civil matters-including housing issues (public housing, home ownership and landlord-tenant), welfare (TANF, AABD, food stamps, medical assistance, and general assistance), consumer issues (utilities and debtors rights), school fees, and important family cases (i.e. child custody cases). We also represent people who are having grievances with the Department of Rehabilitation Services, and people having problems with Unemployment Insurance Benefits. Legal Services for the Elderly Project provides assistance to elderly victims of physical or financial abuse and helps seniors who are otherwise over-income for our primary services. Civil cases and criminal cases which generate an attorney fee are not accepted. The Violence Intervention Legal Assistance Project is a collaborative response to the needs and concerns of persons who have been victimized by domestic violence. An attorney works with the client to help find solutions to civil legal problems that will assist victims in escaping abusive situations.
