The following services are offered: 1. Special Events: Drama, musical productions and talent shows featuring participants from the local community are encouraged. Special commemorative holiday activities and cultural enrichment programs are mainstays of the Center. 2. Tutoring Program: Laura Lee sponsors a tutorial program for students K-12 who are experiencing academic difficulties. This program is designed to help students gain self-confidence and success in all academic areas. Only certified teachers are employed as tutors. 3. Teens: The Teen Advisory Council is a group dedicated to community involvement. The group plans, organizes and promotes programs for the Center. 4. Positive Alternative Lifestyles (P.A.L.) is a program that incorporates elements which will efficiently direct individuals in a positive way. P.A.L. addresses issues dealing with teenagers, both male and female. Topics discussed range from abstinence to AIDS and from self-esteem to drugs and alcohol abuse. This program is designed to use prevention and intervention to provide training and counseling, workshops and information on how to maintain a healthy, positive and productive lifestyle. 5. Recreation: Recreational activities provide fun for all age groups. Basketball is one of the favorite activities, but volleyball, softball, table tennis, aerobics, quiet games and annual summer programs are also available. 6. Coed Fitness: Use of the gym for running and indoor games, light workout routines and aerobic exercise sessions for individuals at all levels of personal and physical development. Other recreational activities include volleyball, basketball and table games. 7. Senior Activities: Seniors may participate in Jolly Seniors, Ever-Ready Seniors, Golden Seniors, and the Women's Auxiliary. Seniors keep busy making quilts and crafts, as well as enjoying friendly conversation. The Senior Women's Auxiliary provides volunteers, financial assistance and sponsors scholarships to graduating seniors at local high schools. 8. Senior Adult Meals Program is held daily Monday through Friday. This program is sponsored by CRIS. 9. Community Service: Throughout the year, Laura Lee sponsors and presents workshops and seminars to benefit the community. Topics include financial planning, health issues, education teen workshops and personal growth and development. The Center is available to other area social service agencies, churches and community rentals. Laura Lee also publishes a monthly community newspaper for members. 10. Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers are essential in all programs and services of the Laura Lee Fellowship House. We invite you to lend skills and knowledge to our programs. 11.
