Program/Service Notes
Outpatient: New Directions provides groups, process groups, and individual counseling for special populations: adults, youth, senior citizens and women. All treatment is individualized to consider the client's age, ethnic background, knowledge development and clinical issues. Intensive Outpatient: Day and night treatment appointments to accommodate employment or other commitment of clients. Substance abuse and alcohol information and education, specific services, and intervention treatment groups, intensive process groups, individual counseling sessions are provided for clients, spouse, members, significant other, and family members. DUI Evaluation: Determines the nature and extent of the use of alcohol or other drugs through DUI evaluations provided by a professional evaluator. Remedial Education Service: Remedial education is provided to furnish information on how alcohol and drugs affect behavior and the physical skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle. Addictions Counseling: Provides an assessment and evaluation program offering alcohol and drug abuse education, chemical dependency treatment, and consultation. The Center is certified by the Department of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services and is available for court-ordered offenders from judges and probation officers. Stress Management: Involves a variety of techniques including, but not limited to, exercise, systematic-progressive relaxation (which reduces bodily tension and anxiety), and an enhancement of coping skills. Anger Management: Supplies education and techniques that will assist in controlling anger in conflict or provoking situations. The Center espouses the following viewpoint: "increase personal power through greater self-control". Couples and Family Counseling: Consists of methods to enhance communication as well as develop a more respectful and trusting relationship between family members. Alternatives to deal with differences within a family are also provided. Behavior Modification: Assists families or school agencies to write individual behavioral management plans to assist in changing child behavioral problems such as hitting peers, stealing, destroying property, or engaging in other disruptive or delinquent behavior. AIDS Education: Offers HIV and AIDS education and counseling to individuals at risk for AIDS. Training is available for clients and service providers.
