Worksource provides opportunities and choices for employment to persons with disabilities which enables them to work and live in their community. Worksource provides paid work to persons with disabilities, in both training and employment environment. Nationally accredited services, since 1979 achieving the highest possible award each time (3 years). Accredited services by Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation facilities (CARF) April 2007 are: Employment Services Coordination, Employment Transition Services, Employment Planning, Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation Services, Employee Development Services, Organizational Employment Services and Community Employment Services SERVICES OFFERED: WORK SERVICES - REGULAR EMPLOYMENT: This is an employment opportunity, providing remunerative sheltered employment and benefits to persons with disabilities. Theses are individuals who have completed vocational assessment and work adjustment. They require continuing assistance with social, vocational and personal adjustment, to increase productivity and to ultimately attain a higher level vocational outcome. VOCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: This training opportunity provides an individual with experiences that are directed toward an understanding of the expectations, demands and responsibilities of successful employment. Success in this program leads to referral to Worksource's job placement program, which culminates with a job in the competitive labor market or in the sheltered employment division at Worksource. VOCATIONAL ASSESSMENT: This provides for a formal/defined assessment period assessing aptitude, interest and an observation period for a clients' behavior in an actual work setting. JOB PLACEMENT: This is to prepare persons with a disability for community employment through structured individualized programs. This includes a total job seeking skills curriculum and job development activity, with an outcome of successfully holding a job. ACTIVITY SERVICES / DEVELOPMENTAL TRAINING: The activities provided in a day training program are to develop skills for independent living. These skills are developed and enhanced through repetitive and basic adult living skills and adaptive behavior learning. Individualized personal and social adjustments are the primary focus of this program. The program also includes services designed to improve an individual's ability to engage in productive work activities. SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT: Persons in this program perform a job based in the community business/industry. They require closer supervision and the daily involvement of a job coach to guide and monitor them. This support system is ongoing but is limited in capacity. A school to work program is also available for a limited number of persons. OTHER SERVICES: * Vocational counseling * Day training (Medicaid approved) * Qualified "Employment Network", by Social Security Administration OFF-SITE BUSINESS OPERATIONS: * Distribution Service Contract with VA Medical Center (9 persons employed) * State contract for janitorial, building and grounds maintenance at Salt Kettle Rest Area (10 persons employed) Farmland Rest Area, Farmer City (14 persons employed) and Illini Prairie Rest Area (13 persons employed) * Janitorial contracts within business and industry * Custodial service contract with U.S. Army Reserve Center VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Volunteers assist adults with disabilities in swimming/exercise activities and arts and craft activities. Volunteers are processed the same as employees. A criminal background check, drug screening, and previous employer / reference checks are done.
