Prosecution of all criminal complaints in Vermilion County involving violations of State law; advice and counsel to County officers. Matters handled by the State's Attorney include: felony cases, juvenile cases, misdemeanors, county affairs, traffic offenses, and mental health cases. The Victim Assistance Program offers support, services and information for crime victims. Services offered are: * assistance and information throughout court proceedings * referrals to appropriate agencies for additional help * transportation for criminal justice hearings, appointments and trials when necessary * assistance in seeking crime victim compensation benefits Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteer duties: * Support and information to victims of violent crimes * Clerical work * Accompany victims to court
