YFRC continues to provide dormitory style housing for up to 23 women at one time. These women are homeless due to economic, emotional, and/or personal problems. Counseling, referrals, support, educational opportunities, and emergency food is available. The original YWCA had rooms available for rent at reasonable rates for single women from the time the existing building was built in 1923. As times changed, the need for these rental rooms decreased and homelessness increased. In 1987 the program changed to a transitional homeless program where women can stay for as long as two years while they develop the skills necessary to maintain themselves in the community.
