Habitat for Humanity builds homes for qualifying individuals who can not secure housing through conventional methods. Anyone interested in applying for a Habitat Home must meet the following criteria: 1. Display actual current need, including inadequate heating system, water supply, electricity, structure or space for the number of people in the household. Environment may be dangerous to residents. 2. Invest at least 250 hours of sweat equity in work on the new home or other Habitat project before moving in. 3. Demonstrate by employment history capability to repay cost of home loan. The average mortgage payment is $300.00 - $350.00 and ability to manage debts. 4. Be able to pay $500 down on the home. 5. Prove that they have no other way to secure a conventional market loan or long term home mortgage. 6. Be willing to live in a racially integrated neighborhood. 7. Show they will take pride in their new home and community.
