Program/Service Notes

ITAC provides telecommunications access for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or voice impaired in Illinois. ITAC distributes free loan or voucher equipment to qualified people as explained in "eligibility". Also provides relay service. EQUIPMENT OFFERED: 1. TTY: (Voucher) - small teletypewriter- style device that allows communication between deaf callers or the relay service and the deaf caller. 2. CAPTEL - (Loan) A telephone that allows deaf, hard of hearing, late deafened, with good voicing skills to talk on the phone and read text of incoming responses provided by captioning (voice recognition) service. 3. Amplified phone (voucher) allows amplification of phones helping the hard of hearing people to be able to hear on the phone. 4. Braille Phone - (loan) Available for deaf/blind people who know Braille and be able to communicate on the phone.
