Program/Service Notes
This auditory-oral program serves children from birth to second grade and is designed to help children with hearing loss learn to develop spoken language through listening. CAOS also offers the following services for school aged children with hearing loss: speech, language and listening therapy, theme-based classroom curriculum, academic tutoring, mainstream support and socialization Children with hearing loss who are developing spoken language and listening skills benefit from interactions with normally hearing, typically developing peers. Additionally, the small group, hands-on learning opportunities that benefit children with hearing loss also provide a positive educational foundation for children with normal hearing. For these reasons, Carle Auditory Oral School enrolls normally hearing typically developing children in all classes, preschool through second grade.
