Program/Service Notes

COTA - Children's Organ Transplant Association, Inc. is a national nonprofit organization founded in 1986 to ensure that no child is denied a life-saving organ transplant because of lack of funds or a lack of an available organ. COTA has helped raise funds for hundreds of individuals needing organ transplants since its founding. 100% of the money raised for an individual is used only for that individual's transplant and related expenses. When that individual's needs are met, any remaining funds will become undesignated in COTA's revolving account. These funds may be used, at the discretion of the COTA Board of Directors, to assist another individual in a similar situation. The majority of COTA's operational expenses are funded by sponsors, grants, national fund raising events and by the interest earned on funds on deposit. COTA provides local campaigns with on-site staff assistance for start up, 800 number access to COTA Headquarters, (questions, etc.), free donation containers and COTA flyers, fund raising advice and support, media relations advice and support, campaign start-up kits and more. It also provides 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status to local campaigns, making tax-deductible contributions possible. COTA provides security and accountability for all funds deposited and assists in the coordination of hospital selection, patient transportation and other transplant-related needs, as requested.
