Program/Service Notes

Fair Hope works with other Social Service agencies to provide good quality used clothing to needy children. They also provide layettes to indigent mothers who give birth at Provena. This year they have worked with Danville Schools to provide school supplies for 155 children. They will soon have a parish nurse who can provide blood pressure checks, etc. Mission Statement: Fair Hope Ministry is an outreach of the Danville United Methodist Cooperative Parish. It was created with the specific goal in mind of giving assistance to the children of the Danville area. Our assistance at this time consists of three separate programs: 1.) Providing complete layette kits to indigent mothers who give birth at Provena USMC and who are referred to us by Provena USMC. 2.) Providing good quality used clothing to the children of clients who are referred to us by the existing social service agencies. We seek to do this in a pleasant, non-judgmental atmosphere. 3.) Providing school supplies to children from low income families through the Danville school system. Fair Hope hopes to have a fourth program in place soon which will offer basic health counseling through their parish nurse. This will be geared to the clients who come to us for clothing. For example, should a young mother come to get clothing for her child and be concerned that the child has a diaper rash and, due to her youth and inexperience, she has no idea how to treat it, our parish nurse would be able to give her some suggestions, and would refer her to a doctor if she saw a need. In the future Fair Hope envisions the parish nurse offering to address such basic health needs as blood pressure monitoring, etc. As Fair Hope offers physical assistance to their clients they will also be available for spiritual support if they should express a desire, but it will never be forced upon anyone. As Fair Hope gains experience and gain support, Fair Hope may be able to find other ways to reach out to the children in the community who needs their help. Fair Hope dreams of offering classes on parenting, life skills, nutrition, basic health care and other concerns as God may lead them.
